This lovely three bedroom cottage is in a quiet location and enjoys sea views from the lounge, front bedroom and balcony. It is a two minute walk down steps to the sea wall at Wheelers Bay. A decked roof terrace provides superb views across Wheelers Bay and over the Downs behind Ventnor, and is an ideal place to relax. For colder months there is a wood burning stove in the living room. Parking: There is FREE parking in Wheeler's Bay car park below the start of St Catherine Street (conditions apply and subject to availability), via Wheeler's Bay Road. There is also pedestrian access via some steps leading directly from the car park into St Catherine’s Street.

This Victorian seaside town offers buildings full of character and is one of the sunniest spots on the Island. There’s lovely sand/shingle beach and an esplanade which is all within a short stroll from the cottage. In addition to the main shopping street where you will find a selection of small supermarkets to include a Co-op and Tesco Express, there are parks and gardens, museums and the Winter Gardens - an entertainment venue with a growing reputation for its theatre and concerts. The renowned Ventnor Haven Fishery at the marina sells the daily catch of fresh fish and seafood; boat trips are also available from here.

There are a number of great restaurants in Ventnor or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, the Ventnor Haven Fishery on the Esplanade sell fantastic fish and chips, locally caught and prepared to order.

Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous Undercliff. This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and Cafe on-site for refreshments; lunch or coffee and cake.

From the esplanade you can take the level walk, along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful sheltered bay only accessed by foot.

You will not be disappointed with your stay at this charming cottage it’s the perfect location to have a truly unforgettable holiday experience.

Location Information

Ventnor Town

Ventnor on the South coast of the Isle of Wight is a picturesque seaside resort, and one of Britain's most famous Victorian health resorts due to its unique micro-climate.

The town lies beneath St Boniface Down (the highest point on the Isle of Wight) and for the most part is built on the side of a steep hill leading down to the seafront and beach.

The beach huts that line the back of the beach are converted Victorian “bathing machines” and are available to hire, along with deckchairs and private areas.

Ventnor has plenty of things to do both in the town and nearby.

Ventnor Beach is a great suntrap, and the sand and shingle beach is great for sunbathing and family swimming.

Ventnor Marina and the bandstand development are very prominent on the seafront and offer a great viewing platform to look out to sea, and the Ventnor Haven Fishery sells the best in local crab and lobster.

Opposite the marina the spectacular Cascade Gardens run down the side of the cliff where the main road zig-zags its way back up into the main town.

Further along there is a children’s paddling pool which features a giant map of the Isle of Wight, and from here there are great walks to Wheelers Bay and Bonchurch along the Sea Wall.

A short distance from the seafront at the Western side of the town you can stroll through the beautiful Victorian Ventnor Park. This leads onto the famous Ventnor Botanic Gardens at the Undercliff, where the town’s micro-climate can be truly appreciated in a 22 acre sub-tropical paradise, see if you can spot the indigenous wall lizards here.

A short walk from here and you will discover one of the Isle of Wight’s best kept secrets, Steephill Cove, which is one of the most relaxing beaches on the Island.

Along Ventnor esplanade there are several pubs, cafes and restaurants offering a variety of food and refreshments, with a number of alternative places to eat further into town.

With the local fisheries there are some great fish and seafood options available at many of the eateries, and some of the local hotels are highly recommended for their fine dining experiences.

In recent years Ventnor has become the regular host of several big arts and culture events, with the Isle of Arts Festival and Ventnor Fringe.

It is also one of the Isle of Wight’s main carnival towns, with daytime and illuminated processions usually taking place during the summer months.

A short drive along the coast is one of the Isle of Wight’s best known attractions, Blackgang Chine, and regular events are hosted here to entertain all the family.

You can enjoy the spectacular scenery from the top deck of one of the regular buses that serves the town.

Catch a bus northwards to Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde, or travel across the Island to Godshill, Newport or Cowes.

This is our fourth visit to Ventnor - always in February - and we love the town and all it's independent eateries and good pubs (love Cantina and The Crab & Lobster pub). We have a good feeling for where we like to be in the town and this house does not disappoint. It's only a few minutes down to the sea front or to the shops and if you didn't want to visit other parts of the island you could easily cope without a car. The house was very comfortable with good sized kitchen/breakfast room and also always warm despite the weather being very cold this time due to windchill. We particularly liked the terraces to watch sunrises and sunsets with a cup of tea - can only imagine how nice it must be in the summer. The other bonus was a very comprehensive and generous welcome pack which set us up very well for our first morning. Easy to recommend Island Holiday Homes for great communication and booking the ferries for us - like a travel agent! We will no doubt be back.

Free nearby parking was a real bonus ,the open plan kitchen diner was great for spending family time together. there is a good wi fi signal and the tv has spare hdmi ports,so you can as i did bring your fire stick from home to keep the kids happy.

We stayed in Ventnor to unwind for a few days and to visit the Isle of Wight having never been before. The Salt Pot was nice and cosy and suited us well. There are cafes, pubs and restaurants in walking distance. Also a nice beach of course, but we came in October, so a bit chilly for that!

Lovely welcome pack on arrival. The house had ample space for 4 adults and a toddler, we were provided with a cot and high chair on request. The roof terrace was great overlooking the sea and the location was beautiful and peaceful.
