Situated on the outskirts of Ventnor, Bonchurch is a beautiful village, nestling on the side of St Boniface down, leading down to the sea. The seafront has a safe shingle/sand beach with rock pools, ideal for children. From the shore you can take a level walk along the revetment towards Ventnor, passing Wheelers Bay and ending in the harbour where you can purchase the catch of the day. Closeby is a large wildlife pond, home to ducks, herons and carp, surrounded by trees and plants and floodlit at night, this is a magical place to sit and relax. For dining out within the village The Pond Café, and Bonchurch Inn offer excellent cuisine.
The Victorian town of Ventnor benefits from a main shopping street, with a range of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. The Esplanade has a crescent shaped sand and shingle beach and a small harbour, where fresh seafood can be purchased. There are several cafes and pubs; the popular ‘Spyglass Inn’ enjoys outstanding sea views and family entertainment. The stylish ‘Metropole’ tapas bar is a great place to relax and enjoy the superb views across the English Channel or stroll along the Cliff Path to the famous Ventnor Botanical Gardens and picturesque Steephill Cove whilst admiring the magnificent coastal scenery.
